Coonawarra’s reputation is firmly established for Cabernet Sauvignon however producers such as Bowen Estate are equally capable of producing Shiraz that rival some of the best from more renown Shiraz producing regions such as McLaren Vale and Barossa Valley.
Matured in American oak barriques (225 litres) of which approximately one third was new for a period of around 22 months. Totally opaque black purple colour with deep dark purple red hue. Showing good lift the nose offers up scents of ripe blackberry and liquorice intermixed with some vanillin confectionary and a hint of spearmint. Rich explosive palate with opulent flavours of ripe blackberry, liquorice and dark chocolate followed by some vanillin confectionary and spice. Superb depth and concentration with velvet smooth tannins. Very long persistent aftertaste of liquorice, ripe blackberry, vanillin confectionary and spice.
