For over 140 years, Best’s has continuously been producing wine in the Great Western wine region of Victoria. Founded in 1866 by the Best family, the Thomson’s family purchased it in 1920 and the fifth generation continue to run it today. As one of Australia’s oldest continuously family owned and operated wineries they also have access to some of the oldest vines in Australia, producing extraordinary wines with great longevity, most notably their Bin 0 Shiraz and Thomson Family Shiraz.

Made predominantly from Best’s own vineyards, the Bin 1 Shiraz is an excellent introduction to the regional style of Great Western Shiraz.

Totally opaque black crimson with deep black crimson hue. As expected the nose is quite youthful exhibiting scents of freshly crushed blackberries followed by some plum, liquorice and black pepper. Full bodied the palate boasts good richness with mouthfilling flavours of blackberry, liquorice, spice and toasty vanillin oak. Fine grained very well integrated tannins with long aftertaste of blackberry, liquorice, toasty oak and pepper.
