2010 Balnaves of Coonawarra Shiraz

This Shiraz has been co-fermented with a small amount of Viognier and was matured for 16 months in French oak of which 25% was new. Opaque black dark red colour with a very dark red hue. Aniseed top notes are followed by some black cherry, smoky oak and spice. Possessing excellent richness and a full body the palate delivers flavours of aniseed alongside some black cherries with smoky oak, dried meats and spice following. Solidly built but fine grained tannins provide the support base. Medium to long aftertaste of aniseed, smoky oak, dried meats and spice.
