A fantastic value and a great introduction to Argentinian Malbec.

This wine is produced from 100% Malbec – Argentina’s signature varietal in a joint venture between Chateau Lafite Rothschild and Nicolas Catena. Originally from France, Malbec was introduced to Argentina by a Frenchman, Jean Pouget, in 1868. A very fruity, exuberant and powerful grape, Malbec has adapted wonderfully to the Mendoza region where the sunshine and cool nights soften its tannins and reveal its velvety texture. Totally opaque black purple colour with deep dark purple hue. The nose displays youthful aromas of freshly crushed blackberry intermixed with black cherries, liquorice and ink followed by some spice with a meaty overtone. Medium to full bodied and possessing plenty of richness, the palate displays fully ripened flavours of blackberry, black cherry, dried meat, earthy cedar and spice. Fine grained, slightly dryish but perfectly balanced tannins with long aftertaste of dark cherry, dried meat, earth and spicy cedar.
