Outstanding totally opaque inky black purple colour with deep dark purple black hue. Nosing reveals a lifted aromatic profile of blackcurrant and blackberry which intermingle with some liquorice followed by some chocolately cedar, earth and spice. Full bodied but with an elegant mouthfeel the palate boasts rich blackcurrant, liquorice and blackberry flavours followed by some dark chocolate, cedar and earthy spice. Excellent fruit concentration is supported by a framework of sturdy fine grained tannins. Long blackcurrant, liquorice, blackberry and spicy cedar aftertaste.
Cellar 8-10 years.
Alc 13.5%

Other Reviews….
Good colour for age; Yalumba moved before the heatwave in picking its best grapes; this is a powerful, full-bodied wine with black fruits, licorice and tannins (plus oak) all clamouring to be heard. A different vintage, to be sure, but doesn't have the finesse of the FDR1A. Both wines deserved better quality corks. Drink by 2030.
