2009 Tatiarra Trademark Shiraz

A stunning blend of Heathcote & McLaren Vale Shiraz that counterpoints the complex flavour profiles of two of Australia’s great Shiraz producing areas.
Ben Riggs' obsession with producing extraordinary Shiraz is well known. However, with Tatiarra he was driven to produce a wine that would rank amongst the giants of the Shiraz world. The result is a diplomatic 50/50 blend of the top barrel from each respective district - his native McLaren Vale, and Heathcote in Victoria.

2009 is indeed proving to be a very special vintage for Tatiarra.
Like the other 2009 Tatiarras, this wine exhibits outstanding totally opaque, super saturated inky black purple colour with deep black purple hue. The nose boasts an alluring perfume of aromas consisting of liquorice, dark plum and blackberry top notes followed by some confectionary, blackpepper and vanilla. A first class sniff. The palate delivers an explosive force of flavour yet is quite elegant in its stature. Generous mouthfilling flavours of blackberry, liquorice, blackpepper and spice with a subtle vanillin oak overlay are all seamlessly integrated. Velvet smooth tannin structure – perfectly balanced. Exceptionally long and persistent aftertaste of blackpepper, blackberry, liquorice and spice. A Shiraz of tremendous depth and persistence. (Tasted 2011).
