2009 Rutherglen Estates Renaissance Durif

Opaque black dark red colour with a dark red hue. The nose displays aromas of ripe dark cherries, dark plums and liquorice followed by some vanillin oak and earth showing good fragrant lift. The palate is relatively big and rich but doesn’t quite reach the dizzy heights that the varietal is capable of lacking its trademark power and explosive depth. Flavours of dark plums, fresh morello cherries, vanillin oak and light spicy earth. Bright acidity with a dryish finish and firm tannin structure. Aftertaste of plum, morello cherry, vanillin cedar and light earth.
