2009 Reilly's R Shiraz

This is a typical Reilly's block buster that makes for everyday drinking above the ordinary.
The 2009 Reilly's R Shiraz is a ripe, fruit forward beauty that will appeal to winelovers who adored the flavours and textures of wines like the 2008 Mastermind Shiraz and recent releases of Chris Ringland Shiraz. We were expecting to ask $20 a bottle but when the negotiations concluded at $15 the value for money suddenly went from outstanding to simply outrageous.

Matured for 18 months in oak the wine displays an opaque inky black colour with deep black dark crimson red hue. On the nose lifted very ripe black plum aromas are prevalent followed by some dark chocolate, liquorice and vanillin oak scents. Densely concentrated, super rich and voluptuous the palate delivers a flamboyant flavour profile of black plum and liquorice with some underlying dark chocolate and vanillin oak like characters and some spice on the back palate. Silky smooth tannins. Excellent depth with very long rich aftertaste of black plum, ripe blackberry, liquorice and spicy vanilla aftertaste.
Drink over the next 3-4 years (2012-2016).
