Pertaringa’s Rifle and Hunt Cabernet is so named as the vineyard and cellars are on the corner of Rifle Range and Hunt Roads, McLaren Vale. Matured for 18 months in French oak hogsheads this wine is filled with gloriously rich, perfectly ripened Cabernet fruit.
Outstanding totally opaque black crimson colour with black crimson hue. The nose displays perfumed top notes of ripe blackcurrant, cassis and dark cherry with an overlay of cedar and some spice end notes. Full bodied the palate is loaded with perfectly ripened blackcurrant fruit that completely swamps the palate followed by some dark chocolate, dark mulberry and spicy cedar back palate characters. Slightly firmish but perfectly balanced tannin structure. Superb depth with very long ripe blackcurrant, cedar and spice aftertaste.
Drink over the next 5-6 years (2011-2017).
Alc 14.0%
