2009 Pegasus Bay Pinot Noir

Burgundian inspired, using small vat fermentation of grapes, hand plunging to moisten the cap and gentle separation of the wine before 18 months maturation in French oak barriques. Semi translucent deep dark crimson red colour with dark crimson red hue.

Very perfumed nose showing both complexity and intensity with lifted scents of dark cherries, anise and some toasty cedar followed by some gamey characters with earth and spice end notes. The palate delivers an outstanding power wave of flavour that is world class. Rich mouthfilling flavours of ripe dark cherries are intermixed with some anise and black plum supported by some underlying meaty cedar and a very spicy back palate. Very fine grained yet solidly built tannins provide excellent structure. Superb persistence with very long ripe dark cherry, anise and spicy cedar aftertaste.
Cellar 5-6 years (2017-2018).
