2009 Paul Osicka Heathcote Shiraz

Paul Osicka Wines is one of the longest established wine producers in the Heathcote wine region with the original Shiraz vines planted over 45 years ago. Grown without irrigation on sandy loam soil over quartz and red ironstone gravels, the vineyard is managed according to organic principles, without the use of herbicides or insecticides.

Totally opaque black dark purple colour with deep black dark purple hue. Aromas of blackberry, liquorice, spearmint and confectionary. Full bodied the palate is densely packed with rich ripe fruit flavours of ripe blackberry, liquorice and mint followed by a spicy back palate. The tannins are a little firmer and drier than recent vintages but in balance providing a robust structure. Good depth and concentration with long blackberry, liquorice, mint and spice aftertaste.
