Writing for the Wine Advocate several years ago, Neal Martin posed the question "Whether or not in qualitative terms alone, New Zealand's Pinot Noir equal Burgundy? No, not yet." he conceded. "Does New Zealand offer better QPR? [Quality Price Ratio] Undoubtedly." Palliser Estate winemaker Allan Johnson aims for a “ripe, full and rich” Pinot Noir. If you've enjoyed Palliser's entry level Pinot under the 'Pencarrow' label, this wine should hit your sweet spot with more overall intensity, length and texture.

Matured for 12 months in French oak casks. Deep dark crimson red colour with dark crimson red hue. The nose displays excellent intensity with perfumed aromas of black cherries, anise, toasty oak and spice. Well weighted with a dark ripe fruit profile the palate delivers rich mouthfilling flavours of dark cherries, black plums and anise followed by some toasty oak and spice. Superb power wave with velvet smooth perfectly integrated tannins. Long aftertaste of spicy dark cherry, black plum, anise and toast.
