In 1997 Michel Chapoutier set out to explore the terroirs of Australia leading him to establish joint ventures with some of the countries most well known and respected vineyards including Jasper Hill and Giaconda with the aim to produce exceptional world class Shiraz.
One Shot Syrah is the result of the collaboration between Chapoutier’s Michel Chapoutier and Giaconda’s Rick Kinzbrunner from a vineyard located nearby to Giaconda. The wine is aged in French oak casks (30% of new) for a period of 18 months.

‘An Australian wine that flirts with perfection, which I had never tasted before, is the 2009 Shiraz One Shot from Beechworth, which is like a liqueur of blueberries and raspberries intermixed with graphite, tar and minerality.”   Robert Parker – The Wine Advocate

Totally opaque inky black dark purple colour with deep dark purple hue. Nosing reveals a scented profile of blackberry, dark plum and liquorice intermixed with some toastiness and meaty characters followed by some spice end notes. Full bodied the palate is rich yet savoury with mouthfilling flavours of dark plum, blackberry and liquorice overlaid by some smoky oak and meatiness with a spicy back palate. Exceptional power without the bulkiness sometimes associated with the varietal, it’s in fact quite refined in its textural attributes. Velvet smooth tannins with very long blackberry, plum, liquorice, smoked meats and spice aftertaste. Very Limited Stocks.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc 14.5%
