Totally opaque midnight black colour with a very deep dark red black hue. Inky liquorice and ripe black cherry aromas are followed by some black plum and subtle dried fruit characters, lightly smoked cedar and spice. Super rich ripe black cherry and black plum flavours swamp the palate with some underlying liquorice, dried fruits and spicy cedar also evident. A very well balanced Amarone with good fresh acidity on the finish and velvet smooth tannins. Long aftertaste of black cherries, liquorice, black plums and spicy earthy vanillin cedar.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc. 15.5%

Other Reviews…
The 2009 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva Costasera opens to a bright ruby color and dark aromas of dried fruit, raisin, tar, grilled herb and licorice. It imparts a texture that is soft, soothing and rich. It is drinking young right now and could use another three to five years of bottle aging for more evolution and complexity. Drink 2015-2028.
