2009 Manoir de Gay

A 100% Merlot sourced from the youngest vines of Chateau Le Gay. Opaque black dark red colour with a deep dark red hue. Ripe dark mulberry and blackcurrant scents are followed by a faint whiff of liquorice and leather, some cedar, earth and spice. Medium to full bodied with good up front richness the palate features flavours of dark mulberry and blackcurrant intermixed with some toasty cigar box characters followed by some scorched earth and spice. Dry finish with solid, slightly chewy tannins. Aftertaste of toasty cigar box, blackcurrant, scorched earth and spice.
Cellar 5-6 years.

Taut and toasty, with dark mesquite and coffee notes lending a slightly firm frame to the plum sauce and roasted fig flavors. Stays taut through the finish, with a charcoal edge holding sway, but has the length and flesh to wait it out. Best from 2013 through 2018.
