2009 Katnook Estate Odyssey Cabernet Sauvignon

Matured in small oak barriques for 30 months of which 80% were French and 20% American. Opaque black dark red colour with a very dark red hue. The nose displays intense aromatics with scents of cassis, black cherries and liquorice overlaid by vanillin cedar and spice. Full bodied the palate possesses rich opulent flavours of ripe blackcurrants, liquorice and black cherries over a background of spicy vanillin cedar. Solidly built, slightly chewy but very fine grained tannins provide the framework. Excellent depth with a long ripe blackcurrant, liquorice, subtle black cherry and spicy vanillin cedar aftertaste.
