The Clare Valley is amongst Australia’s best Riesling districts, constantly delivering wines of great depth and flavour such as this intense, aromatic example. Riesling has an ability to age gracefully, gathering both power and complexity in the process. In the best examples, whilst the crisp acid zing generally remains, tertiary flavours (those which come from time in bottle) begin to come to the fore. In Riesling, these are often described as 'honey & toast' over lime juice. In extreme cases, Riesling takes on a 'kerosene' like aroma and flavour, which may sound a little odd at first, but is in fact quite sought after.

Brilliant straw colour still retaining hints of a greenish tinge around the edges with a watery hue. Showing good intensity lifted lemon and lime scents are overlaid by some toasty characters and dried honey with spice and light kerosene end notes. Still quite fresh and lively the palate has put on some additional richness and texture as a result of the extended bottle age. Mouthfilling flavours of lemon and lime are still dominate over emerging toasty and dried honey characters finishing with some spice and a hint of kerosene. Good fresh acidity keeps everything in perfect balance. Long aftertaste of lemon, toast, some dried honey characters and a hint of kerosene.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
