Jim Barry planted his first Shiraz on 70 acres of prime land purchased from Duncan McRae Wood. Less the reputation and price tag of Jim Barry's flagship wine, 'The Armagh', the McRae Wood is consistently outstanding and just as worthy of attention.

Magnificent colour - a super saturated inky black crimson colour with very deep dark crimson red black hue. Aromas leap out of the glass in spectacular fashion creating a perfumed profile of ripe blackberry, liquorice, dark chocolate and mocha followed by some intriguing spearmint notes with a hint of confectionary and spice. Full bodied, opulently textured and possessing an abundance of flavour, the palate delivers mouthfilling ripe blackberry, dark plum and liquorice flavours followed by some confectionary, a hint of mint and a spicy back palate. Silky smooth tannin structure. Very long plush aftertaste of black plum, liquorice and spice.
Drink over the next 5-6 years (2012-2018).
Alc 14.5%
