While Sancerre is considered the gold standard for Sauvignon Blanc, the vineyards of neighbouring Pouilly Fume along the Loire have long had their own distinct interpretation of the varietal. Sauvignon is nicknamed locally "Blanc Fume" for two reasons: the layer of grey wax found on the grapes at maturity, and the pungent flinty/smokey flavour that can exhale from the wines. Since the passing of Florence Daguenau, Serge Daguenau et Filles is today led by Serge and Valerie Daguenau. Although more intense examples of Pouilly Fume come from the siliceous soils of the area, the father and daughter team tends to 17 Ha located on kimmeridgian marls (a.k.a. "Terres Blanches"). The upside is that the resulting wines are more expressive from infancy.

Brilliant pale straw colour with slight greenish tinge around the edges and watery hue. The nose displays aromas of green grassy herbaceous characters as top notes followed by some lime, citrus, herbs and light smoky notes. The palate displays good textural qualities with mouthfilling herbaceous, grassy flavours, a light smoky overlay, lime and mineral. Clean crisp finish. Good length with medium to long grassy, citrus, light smoke and mineral aftertaste.
