2009 Domaine de la Vougeraie Terres de Famille Bourgogne Pinot Noir

Tasting through the 2009 Burgundies one common trait they possess is the long expansive supple palates and richer fruit profiles in comparison to recent vintages. However they still maintain their old world charm and grace in contrast to the fruiter, joosier qualities seen in many new world Pinots.

Semi translucent bright crimson cherry red colour with crimson mauve hue. Lifted aromas of dark cherry, strawberry, spice and earth along with just a hint of meaty game like characters as an end note. Light to medium weight the palate is generously flavoured with dark cherries and dark raspberries followed by some spice and earth. Dry finish with fine grained tannin structure. Good power wave with long aftertaste of dark cherry, spice and a touch of earth.
Drink over the next 3-4 years (2011-2015).
