2009 Crabtree Watervale Tempranillo

The fruit for this wine was handpicked from blocks planted in 1999 and 2003 with maturation in a combination of new (15%) and older French oak for 6 months.

Excellent opaque dark crimson black colour with deep dark crimson black hue. The nose is a touch subdued with aromas of black plum, dark cherry and spice emerging. Medium weight, the palate is quite generous with flavours of inky black cherry, dark plum and liquorice followed by some spice on the back palate. Good length. Dry earthy finish with fine grained but dryish tannins. Aftertaste of inky dark plum, black cherry and spice.
