2009 Clarendon Hills Onkaparinga Syrah

Sourced from low yielding, dry grown vines planted in 1935 the wine was matured for 18 months in 85% new tight-grained French Oak. Saturated inky black colour with very deep black purple hue. Very perfumed nose with aromas of black plum, liquorice and a touch of violets emanating from the glass followed by some dark chocolate and spice scents. Full bodied with a plush fleshy texture the palate delivers voluptuous flavours of ripe dark plum, liquorice, smoked meats, toast and spice. The wealth of fruit almost totally concealing the finely structured tannins. Long aftertaste of ripe plum, blackberry, liquorice and meaty spice.
