Sourced from low yielding vines planted in 1935 the wine was aged for 18 months within a hierarchy of 1-5 year old tightly grained French Oak. Opaque black crimson colour with dark crimson red hue. The nose on the Onkaparinga takes a little more coaxing to reveal itself with aromas of dark raspberry, plum, liquorice, confectionary and spice slowly emerging. Flamboyant, opulent and rich the palate is not the least bit shy as the nose may have suggested delivering very concentrated flavours of black raspberry, dark plum, liquorice and spice that are totally mouthfilling. Fleshy mouthfeel with velvet smooth tannins. Very long aftertaste of black raspberry, liquorice and spicy blackpepper.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc 14.5%
