2009 Clarendon Hills Moritz Syrah

Matured for 18 months in tight-grained French oak of which 85% was new. Totally opaque black purple colour with deep dark purple crimson red hue. The nose has good intensity with lifted liquorice, black cherry and blackpepper scents intermixed with some meaty characters and some spicy end notes. Full bodied but refined the palate delivers mouthfilling flavours of blackberry, liquorice and blackpepper followed by a trace of dried meats and a spicy back palate. Dryish but fine grained tannins keep the palate relatively tightly coiled. Excellent length with long liquorice, blackpepper and spice aftertaste.
Cellar 6-8 years.
