Other Reviews….

Opaque purple-colored, this is a relatively structured, tightly knit wine that offers up notes of crushed rocks, black raspberries and hints of black currant and underbrush. It is structured, masculine and medium to full-bodied, with some moderate tannins that still need to be resolved. Forget it for 2-3 years and drink it over the following decade.

A solid effort, and possibly the best wine ever made at Villars, the 2009 exhibits a deep ruby/purple color as well as notes of forest floor, crushed rocks, blueberries, and raspberries, a superb texture, admirable purity, and a long, full-bodied finish. It should drink well for 15-20 years.
Score: 90-92+*
