The best Fayau Cadillac since the exceptional 2001.

Sauternes enthusiasts have long known that across the Garonne River they can procure what is arguably the greatest value wine in sweet white Bordeaux, which in exceptional years produces a wine equal to Sauternes which may sell at two or three times its price. This bizarre anomaly is the Chateau Fayau Cadillac, and although the wine cannot be labelled Sauternes as such, it is essentially identical in every way. The 2009 has just arrived and once again it excels with Sauternes like concentration and lusciousness at an incredibly affordable price.

Brilliant pale gold colour with very pale gold hue. The nose displays excellent intensity with aromas of honeyed apricot and peach leaping out of the glass followed by some marmalade and a faint hit of dried raisins. Luscious rich flavours of honey, ripe apricot and peach fill the palate followed by a touch of marmalade and some spice. Clean dry finish. Viscous mouthfeel, excellent depth and long persistent honeyed apricot, marmalade and spice aftertaste.
Forget Noble One and enjoy this remarkable bargain over the next 5-6 years.
