‘A Malbec dominate blend that exudes richness, power and structure’
Retasted 15/05/2015: Outstanding colour saturation featuring an impenetrable inky black core and a very deep dark red black hue. Intense ripe blackcurrant and blackberry aromas bound from the glass followed by black cherries and liquorice with underlying scents of cigar box, earth and spice. Full bodied, amply concentrated and possessing boundless richness the palate sings with rich ripe blackcurrant, black cherry and liquorice fruit followed by dusty cigar box characters and spice. Very powerful and opulent with the solid tannin structure having become more civilised. Long persistent aftertaste of ripe blackcurrant, black cherries, liquorice, cigar box, earth and spice. There’s still loads of life left in this beauty. Cellar a further 5-6 years. Alc 15%
First Tasted 03/10/2012: A superb blend produced from 75% Malbec and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2009 Caro was matured for 12 months in French oak of which 85% was new. Outstanding colour saturation – totally opaque black crimson red colour with very deep black crimson hue. The nose displays perfumed scents of violets, blackcurrant and blackberry with some underlying notes of cedar, earth and spice. Full bodied the palate boasts rich fully ripened flavours of dark black cherry and blackcurrant followed by some ripe blackberry, vanillin cedar, a touch of earth and a spicy back palate. Solid, fine grained and slightly dryish tannins provide the wines generously proportioned body of fruit with excellent structure. Long aftertaste of black cherry, blackcurrant, cedar and spice.
