2009 Balnaves Coonawarra Shiraz

Matured for 16 months in 30% new, 45% second fill and 25% third fill French oak for a period of 16 months. Opaque black dark red colour with deep dark red hue. Lifted aromas of ripe blackberry and liquorice are overlaid with some mint followed by some very subtle spicy vanillin cedar. Medium to full bodied ripe blackberry, dark chocolate and liquorice flavours intermingle with some spearmint followed by undertones of spicy cedar. Dryish finish with solid chewy tannins providing the framework. Aftertaste of blackberry, spearmint and spicy cedar.
