Ata Rangi consider this to be one of their finest Petrie Chardonnay’s to date. Sourced from a 20 year old vineyard owned by the Petrie family located just outside Martinborough, the wine was matured on it’s lees in French oak for 7 months.
Brilliant pale straw colour with greenish tinge around the edges and watery hue. The nose displays excellent intensity with lifted white peach and cashew aromas followed by some nougat, light honeycomb and spice end notes. Full bodied with plenty of richness the palate displays generous flavours of fleshy white peach, nougat and cashew with some spicy roast almond characters on the back palate. Clean dry finish with an excellent mouthfeel that’s almost creamy like. Superb length with long aftertaste of white peach, spice, cashew and dried honey.
Drink over the next 3-4 years (2010-2014).
Alc 13.5%
