Pronounced 'Ahr-nase', this is another variety thought to originate from Italy's Piedmont region. There, small quantities have been traditionally blended with Nebbiolo, the dominant red variety of Italy's world famous Barolo and Barbaresco wines. In much the same way Viognier is successfully blended with Shiraz, the addition of Arneis is intended to both soften the wine and add complexity. However, on its own, it can produce a delightful white. 5% of this wine was fermented in new oak and another 10% in older French oak, the remainder in stainless steel. The barrel fermented batches were held in oak for five months to balance the naturally high acid levels and promote some palate richness and complexity.

An excellent example of the variety.

Bright pale straw colour with water like hue. Fresh aromatic nose of spice, white pear and semi ripe nectarine, finishing with a hint of honeysuckle. The palate flavours are generous, confectionary is followed by semi ripe nectarine and spice. The spiciness is very persistent. Clean acid finish. Long aftertaste of lemon, pear, nectarine and spice.
