2008 Yalumba Hand Picked Shiraz Viognier

Matured for 19 months in 22% new French oak hogsheads and 15% new Hungarian oak hogsheads with balance in older Hungarian (33%) and French (30%) oak hogsheads and barriques. Opaque, black purple colour with deep, black dark purple red hue. The nose displays good intensity with lifted notes of liquorice, blackberry, confectionary and spice. Opulent, round and fleshy in texture the palate displays mouthfilling flavours of blackberry, liquorice, confectionary and spice. Excellent length and persistence. Very fine grained, almost velvet like tannins. Long aftertaste of liquorice, blackberry and blackpepper.
