2008 Yalumba FDR1A Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz

A beautifully made, elegantly structured wine that has a long life ahead of it.
Matured for 19 months in a combination of French, Hungarian and American oak barrels this excellent blend displays an outstanding black crimson colour with a black heart and very deep, black crimson red hue. The nose displays lifted aromas of ripe blackcurrant and blackberry followed by some liquorice, cedar and spice with just a trace of mint as an end note. The palate delivers perfectly ripened fruit in conjunction with an elegant texture and structure. Seamlessly integrated flavours of ripe blackcurrant, cassis and blackberry followed by some underlying cedar and a touch of mint. Velvet smooth tannins, excellent length and very long aftertaste of blackcurrant, cassis, cedar and again, a hint of mint.
