This wine is named after Robert Strangways Wigley, a noted South Australian eccentric and State cricketer who established Wirra Wirra back in 1894. Maturation took place in a combination of 55% French oak and 45% American oak, of which 40% was new, for a period of 20 months.

Saturated totally opaque black dark crimson purple colour with deep black crimson hue showing excellent cling. The nose displays excellent lift with perfumed notes of ripe blackberry, dark plum and dark chocolate emerging from the glass followed by some liquorice mocha like end notes. Voluptuously textured and almost decadently rich the palate delivers a mouthfilling flavour profile of ripe blackberry, dark plum and liquorice followed by some mocha and vanillin characters. Very fine grained velvet like tannin structure. Excellent depth with very long aftertaste of ripe blackberry, dark plum, chocolate bullets and spice.
Cellar 4-5 years (2015-2016).
