The team at Walnut Block are capable of some lovely Burgundian styled Pinots. This is one, with some decent bottle age behind it and a reasonable asking price toboot.
Semi translucent dark red colour with light brick red hue. The nose shows good perfumed lift with ripe dark cherries intermixed with some dark plums and anise followed by some gaminess and light spicy toasted oak. Light to medium weight the palate has softened and become more expansive with bottle age. Generous flavours of ripe dark cherries, dark plums and anise are followed by some meaty cedar like qualities and spice. Rounded plush mouthfeel showing good power with velvet smooth tannins and long aftertaste of ripe dark cherries, dark plum, anise and spicy meaty cedar. Great drinking now. Drink over the next 1-2 years. Alc 14%
