The insatiable demand for made-to-formula New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc has discouraged many winemakers from producing more exciting styles. Jaded palates are now demanding alternatives that offer more complexity at highly competitive prices. In response to this, we've managed to source an impressive Bordeaux-inspired Sauvignon Blanc at a remarkable price, produced by Lafite Rothschild’s team in Chile.

The 2008 vintage leading up to harvest was very hot, but without excessive heat during normal harvest dates, resulting in well balanced, ripe fruit. Grapes were sourced from two sites in Casablanca and Leyda. Bright pale straw colour with water like hue. Delicate top note of gooseberry and confectionary, delivering a Graves like nose. The palate has impressive weight and mouthfeel. Flavours of confectionary over a grassy, herbaceous background. The palate displays impressive length with a crisp acid backbone. Very persistent aftertaste of confectionary, grass and spice with crisp acidity persisting.
