2008 Vasse Felix Shiraz

An excellent follow up to the superb 2007, the 2008 Vasse Felix Shiraz contains 9.1% Malbec and 3.3% Viognier. The Viognier component was fermented with the Shiraz while still on skins to increase perfume and develop succulence on the palate whilst an exceptional parcel of Malbec was also incorporated into the blend to add colour, pristine red and black berry fruit, wonderful exotic spices and structural complexity. The wine was matured for 18 month in a combination of French, American and Hungarian oak 30% of which was new.

Opaque black crimson colour with deep dark crimson red purple hue. The nose displays lifted scents of blackpepper, blackberry, liquorice and spice with a meaty overlay. Medium to full bodied the palate displays impressive richness with flavours of blackpepper, liquorice, blackberry and confectionary followed by a spicy back palate. Fine grained tannins with long aftertaste of liquorice, spice and confectionary.
Cellar 4-5 years (2014-2015).
