Composed of 92% Shiraz and 8% Viognier the Descendant vineyard was planted with cuttings from one of the old Run Rig vineyards. The Shiraz is crushed on top of the Viognier from the same vineyard, which has been lightly pressed for blending with the Run Rig. The blend of fruit is then co-fermented and later the wine matured for 18 months in 2 ½ year old French barrels that had been previously used for Run Rig.

Sumptuous and Fleshy !

Totally opaque inky black colour with very deep black dark crimson red hue. Perfumed exotic aromas of dark plum, ripe blackberry and chocolate bullets along with a faint hint of dried apricot and spice. Full bodied, richly textured and very concentrated the palate delivers mouthfilling flavours of dark plum, dark chocolate and liquorice followed by some undertones of dried apricot and a spicy back palate. Velvet smooth tannins and a sumptuous fleshy mouthfeel. Long persistent dark plum, liquorice, dried apricot and spice aftertaste.
Cellar 5-6 years (2017-2018).
