2008 Smith & Hooper Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot

Matured for 14 months in 5% new French oak barriques, 12% in one year old barrels (7% French, 5% Hungarian) with the balance in older oak Hogsheads & Barriques (French 55% and American 28%). Opaque black crimson red colour with black crimson hue. Aromas of ripe blackcurrant, cedar, spice and tobacco. The palate displays excellent concentration with full bodied flavours of ripe blackcurrant, spice and cedar followed by some earthy characters on the back palate. Fine grained slightly dry tannins with aftertaste of spice, blackcurrant and cedar.
