Inspired by the wines of Pomerol, Bordeaux this superb blend is comprised of 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot, 19% Malbec and 6% Cabernet Franc with maturation taking place in a combination of old and new French oak.

A rich, generously flavoured St Ignatius that still maintains its sense of place.

A very mild February, with continuing dry conditions, meant the vines raced to ripeness with excellent flavour development in 2008. Fortunately, the earlier harvesting of fruit meant that red varieties were picked ahead of extremely hot conditions in early March. These vintage conditions in combination with low yields have resulted in a St. Ignatius with impressive depth and concentration.

Totally opaque black dark crimson red colour with very deep dark crimson red hue. The nose displays good intensity and complexity with aromas of ripe blackcurrant, dark chocolate, mint, cedar and a hint of spice as an end note. Full bodied, rich and ripe the palate delivers an abundance of flavour – ripe blackcurrant and dark plum followed by some choc mint with a spicy cedar overlay – totally mouthfilling. Fine grained perfectly integrated tannin structure. Excellent length with very long blackcurrant, dark chocolate, mint and spicy cedar aftertaste.
Drink over the next 4-5 years (2015-2016).
