An exceptionally powerful and very concentrated Clare Valley Shiraz.

A small parcel of outstanding old-vine fruit is the inspiration behind Sevenhill Cellars’ flagship wine, the 2008 Brother John May Reserve Release Shiraz. The wine honours the stellar winemaking career of Sevenhill’s Jesuit Winemaker Emeritus, Brother John May, SJ, who, in 2012, completed 49 vintages in the Clare Valley. The fruit for the Reserve Release was hand picked from a single block, recognised for producing high-quality Shiraz from low-yielding vines that were planted by Brother May in his very early days at Sevenhill. The wine spent 22 months in new French oak, with a further two years’ bottle age before its release in individually numbered bottles.
Very Limited Stocks.

Tasting note:
Totally opaque inky black dark red colour with very deep dark red black hue. Superb nose with aromas of ripe blackberry and liquorice leaping out of the glass followed by some dark chocolate with an overlay of mint followed by some confectionary end notes. Super rich and ultra concentrated the palate delivers all encompassing flavours of ripe blackberry, liquorice and spearmint followed by some dark chocolate and spice. Velvet smooth tannins work in combination with the plushly textured fruit to create an opulent mouthfeel. Exceptionally long aftertaste of blackberry, liquorice, spearmint and spice.
Drink over the next 5-8 years (2012-2020)
Alc 15.5%
