2008 Pikes Riesling

The 2008 Pikes Riesling is an example of Clare Riesling approaching its brilliant best.

Picked in late March - early April, the wine was inoculated with pure yeast culture and fermented entirely in stainless steel at between 12 and 15°C for 25 days. Brilliant pale straw colour with water like hue. Top note of lime and lemon followed by tropical fruit and orange blossom. The palate flavours are quite pronounced with the lemon and lime being dominant, over a crisp acid backbone. Orange infusions evident on the palate. Strong spice, lemon and lime aftertaste with crisp acid finish.
