The Clare Valley is synonymous with the production of world class Riesling, but the region also has it’s fair share of top Shiraz producers including Jim Barry, Sevenhill & Killikanoon. Established in 1984 and best known for their Riesling, Pikes have also excelled with their Shiraz in recent years. The wine was matured for 18 months in predominantly 228 litre French oak barriques.

Rich and loaded with flavour this is a great value Clare Valley Shiraz.

Totally opaque, black dark crimson colour with inky, black heart and very deep, black dark red hue. Aromas of ripe blackberry and liquorice dominate followed by some dark chocolate, confectionary and spice notes. Full bodied, densely concentrated and loaded with flavour, the palate delivers an expansive profile of super ripe blackberry, liquorice and dark chocolate followed by some confectionary. Rich, fleshy texture with velvet smooth tannins. Superb concentration, excellent depth and very long aftertaste of blackberry, liquorice and spice.
Drink this rich exuberant example of Clare Shiraz over the next 3-4 years (2011-2015)
Alc 14.5%
