First produced in 1959, Bin 28 is named after the famous Barossa Valley Kalimna vineyard purchased by Penfolds in 1945 and from which the wine was originally sourced. Today it’s a multi regional blend with fruit sourced from a variety of regions although the Barossa is still well represented. Maturation took place in seasoned American oak hogsheads.

Totally opaque black purple colour with deep black purple hue. The nose displays good aromatic lift with top notes of blackberry, liquorice, plum and confectionary. The palate shows good weight with ripe generous flavours of blackberry and liquorice followed by some confectionary and spice. Very fine grained tannins. Good length with long aftertaste of liquorice, blackberry and spice.
Very approachable now but also capable of 4-5 years cellaring (2011-2016)
Alc 14.5%
