The first vintage of Oliver's super premium Shiraz called the 'HJ Reserve' was produced in 2000 as a tribute to the memory of H.J. 'Bert' Oliver. Fruit for the H.J. is sourced from a single block planted in 1948.
Totally opaque, inky black colour with very deep, black dark crimson hue showing excellent colour saturation and glass cling. The nose delivers a magnificent and very intense aromatic profile of liquorice, mocha, dark chocolate, vanilla, confectionary and spice. The palate delivers a sublime flavour experience - it's superb concentration and richness in combination with a pure, velvet like texture and opulent fruit profile are to die for. Mouthfilling flavours of ripe blackberry, liquorice, confectionary and mocha are followed by some vanilla and a spicy back palate. Supple, silky like tannins. Incredible persistence with exceptionally long aftertaste of blackberry, dark chocolate, mocha, liquorice and vanillin confectionary.
Cellar 5-6 years (2016-2017)
