In 2002 we tasted the inaugural release of “Mr.Riggs” Shiraz, which we described as "destined to become a new cult wine". In a relatively short time, this wine has earned an enviable reputation, keenly anticipated by wine lovers around the world, with some vintages selling out within weeks. Riggs' flagship expression blends fruit from four great McLaren Vale Shiraz vineyards. For 2008, each component finished fermentation in oak of which approximately 80% was French and the balance American, 40% of which was new oak. Parcels of fruit from the various vineyards were kept separate during fermentation and maturation until finally being blended three months prior to bottling.

The Master of McLaren Vale has done it again! Another spectacular Shiraz.
Super saturated opaque black purple colour with black purple hue and excellent glass cling. Closed upon first sniff, the nose eventually opens up to reveal perfumed aromas of blackberry, liquorice allsorts, dark plum and confectionary. Full bodied with explosive palate flavours of blackpepper, spice and blackberry, followed by liquorice allsorts and confectionary, with the blackpepper and spice persisting on the back palate. Super fine grained tannins, slightly dry, but perfectly balanced. Exceptionally long aftertaste of blackberry, spice and blackpepper. Another outstanding effort from Mr Riggs.
