The fruit for this Shiraz is predominately sourced from six individual blocks on the Mitchelton Estate as well as some additional vineyards in the Goulburn Valley. Yields are typically around the 2 to 2.5 tonnes per acre with maturation taking place in French oak for a period of 14-16 months. Barrel selection is comprised of four French cooperages with approximately 35% being new oak and the balance in one to three year old barrels.

A great value Central Victorian Shiraz.

Opaque, black crimson colour with deep, crimson red hue. Lifted aromas of liquorice and blackberry are followed by light toast and blackpepper notes. Full bodied and possessing good richness, the palate delivers generous flavours of ripe blackberry, liquorice and spice with a light toast overlay and peppery back palate. Fine grained tannins with medium to long aftertaste of blackberry, liquorice, toast and blackpepper.

Good hue for age; attractive wine with plenty of action in the mouth as an array of red and black fruits, spice and well-judged oak weave a flavour tapestry; good balance and long finish.
