2008 Maipenrai Pinot Noir

This Pinot Noir was fermented with wild yeasts and matured in French oak, (of which one third was new), and bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Semi translucent dark red mauve colour with brick red mauve hue. Lifted aromas of violets, strawberries and dark cherries followed by some spicy cedar and meat like end notes. Light to medium weight the palate delivers flavours of dark cherries, dark strawberry and meaty spice like characters with some underlying cedar. Good power wave. Fine grained slightly dryish but balanced tannins. Medium to long aftertaste of dark cherry, dried meat and spicy cedar.
Drink over the next 2-3 years (2011 - 2014)
