Sourced solely from Kurtz Family’s own vineyard with vines ranging in age between 8-45 years the wine was matured in a mixture of new and older French & American oak hogsheads for 30 months. A record breaking hot spell of 15 consecutive days of plus 35 degree C days was a huge viticultural challenge during the 2008 vintage. Two parcels of Shiraz were picked prior to the heat and the remaining two parcels were picked after the heat. Importantly no parcels were picked during the heat, therefore eliminating the stressed characteristics that are somewhat unfortunately a tell tale mark of this vintage. Irrigation was applied to the two parcels that sat through the heatwave enabling a more natural ripening period.

A very rich Barossa Shiraz possessing copious volumes of fruit that give the wine a decadent and luxurious mouthfeel.

Totally opaque inky black purple colour with very deep black purple hue. The nose displays excellent intensity with a lifted aromatic profile of liquorice, mocha, dark plums, dark chocolate and confectionary. The palate boasts outstanding concentration, richness and opulence in combination with a thick voluptuous texture. Very generous mouthfilling flavours of black plum, liquorice and ripe blackberry followed by some mocha and vanillin confectionary characters. Superb depth. Velvet smooth tannins with long liquorice, dark plum, mocha and vanilla aftertaste.
