Fruit for this wine was sourced from Kalleske’s Moppa vineyard, a small sub-district of Greenock in the Barossa’s North-West. Produced from predominately Shiraz (90%) with 5% Viognier and 5% Petit Verdot included to enhance complexity. 2008 was an extremely hot, dry vintage with superb ripening conditions until March, when the Barossa experienced its biggest heat-wave of all time, with fifteen days in a row over 35 degrees. Fortunately, the majority of grapes were harvested by this time so were not overtly affected. The few blocks of grapes harvested during the heat-wave were partially dehydrated but have added to the richness and concentration of this wine.

An outstanding voluptuously styled Barossa Shiraz.
Opaque black crimson colour with black crimson hue. Perfumed nose with aromas of liquorice allsorts, confectionary, mocha, dark plum and vanilla – excellent intensity and varietal character. Full bodied palate with rich generous flavours of dark plum, liquorice allsorts, mocha and vanilla with some spice on the back palate. Excellent concentration. Velvet smooth tannins with long persistent aftertaste of plum, liquorice allsorts and confectionary.
Cellar 3-4 years (2012-2013)
