2008 Gibson Reserve Merlot

This excellent Merlot is a blend of 50% Adelaide Hills Merlot with a further 35% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Petit Verdot coming from the Barossa. Some 6 components were used in compiling this blend. A multiplicity of combinations of extraction, oak, maceration and vineyard sites were employed. New French oak hogsheads were predominantly used for maturation.

Opaque black dark red purple colour with very deep dark red hue. Aromas of dark ripe plum and dark chocolate followed by some ripe mulberry notes and a hint of cedar. Medium to full bodied palate displaying good weight with flavours at the darker end of the spectrum – rich ripe dark chocolate and black plum flavours are followed by some spice and confectionary. Super fine tannins with long aftertaste of dark plum, chocolate and confectionary.
